Approach to the Diamond

Here’s a shot taken on my approach to the Diamond on Longs Peak. The Diamond probably has some of the best big wall climbing outside of Yosemite. You can barely make me out on the rock in the middle of the snow field. Sketchy approach … The snow field was pretty steep and ended at a cliff. I forgot to bring an ice ax for post holing and self arrest should I have slipped. I made due with a large stick and very slow pace.

sender films new flick is steph davis free soloing at the diamond… it’s ridiculous you should check it out when it comes out!

That’s funny you mentioned that. I happened to be at REI in Boulder when she came in to buy bolts & hangers as a safety back up for that free solo attempt. She climbed Pervertical Sanctuary…5.11. Boulder Theater had a premier of King Lines last fall and they had a quick preview of it. Good stuff.

Joyce took it just before she crossed. No crampons a bit sketchy.
