I wasn’t able to make it out for the demo, but I took a look at your website and was very impressed with the Nature’s Advantage line. I was especially happy to read that all ingredients originate in the US as I am scared to feed my cat food made in China after the wheat gluten incident.

I do have a couple questions: I feed my cat organic food now, but I’d like to put him on a raw food diet, which seems even more natural. But when I tried feeding him raw food before, he didn’t take to it at all. He actually refused to eat it even if I mixed it in with his favorite beef & gravy wet food. The food I tried on him was frozen and thawed. Is it easier to get pets to eat the freeze dried food? My friend’s dog was fed raw food since he was a puppy and he loves it, but my cat is 7 – are pets ever too old to make the transition? Do some animals just not like the raw food diet, or do they all prefer it once they are properly transitioned to it?

How long did you try to feed him raw? Just asking because of the idea that pets will not starve themselves to death, and will eat eventually. Cats are very funny about new things, often do not take to them. If you cannot get him to eat raw, you can try searing the meat (which means cook it fast only on the outside), and see if that works. If not, just stick to a super-premium kibble and wet food. I’ve never heard of Nature’s Advantage, and I could not locate their website due to the name being so common.

I only tried for a couple of weeks. The raw food I was feeding him (or trying to!) was frozen, and I was told not to leave it out for very long as it would spoil. So, once thawed, I would put it out for him instead of his wet food for dinner and if he hadn’t eaten it within a half hour or so, I would throw it out. He never touched it, so I gave up. I am gone at work all day, so had to leave some kibble out for him in the daytime, so maybe he was just never hungry enough in the evening to feel desperate enough to try something new. I assume the freeze dried raw food can be left out all day, so maybe I should try with that. In the meantime, I’ve been feeding him Blue Buffalo or Organix kibble. I might try searing some meat. If I do that would I just cut up one of the frozen patties into small pieces and cook it quickly in a pan? Should I use anything to cook it (like oil or cooking spray)? Or just cook in a non-stick pan? For searing, is it better to feed the raw food patties or just get a human-grade chicken breast from the grocery store?
