Places to climb outdoors in the summer??

Does anyone know other outdoor places in N. America I can go climbing during the hot summer? Places where the heat and humidity are not an issue?

I know of BC Squamish and I’ve heard of places in Utah, but is there anywhere else where the climbing conditions aren’t so bad?

Lion’s Head (and White Bluff) in Ontario for limestone sport

Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park for granite domes (trad).

Lake Tahoe region for granite sport, trad, and bouldering

RMNP for boudlering and trad

I’ve heard that Dover Island off of Nova Scotia is supposedly a great place for summer bouldering.

Ha,

It is ridiculously dry out here on the front range. I can only remember a couple humid days last summer, no joke. Although it can get hot in the summer time in some areas, the lack of humidity really helps the temps drop quite a bit in the shade. That said, some great areas are RMNP for bouldering, trad, and some sport; Estes Park (Lumpy Ridge) for bouldering, trad, and some sport, Freemont Canyon (Wyoming), Veadawoo for good bouldering and off-width madness; Wild Iris (Wyoming); Boulder Canyon and Clear Creek (see this months Urban Climber for an article on Clear Creek bouldering) for bouldering, trad and sport. I can go on of course, but the last place that is stunning and still has tons of potential for FA’s for trad and bouldering is The Wind River Range. I was there last year and was absolutely floored at the amount of bullet proof granite and route/bouldering potential…not to mention the beauty of the place. Lander, Wyoming is a cool little climbing/outdoor town at one of the entrances to the Winds…a bit like Boulder used to be back in the day. Hope this helps.

Sounds great! I’ll definitely start looking into these places.

I’d like to take a climbing trip in July as kinda of a birthday present to myself. Now that I have a starting point I can begin researching. Thanks again guys!

Just wanted to mention that the Lion’s Head area (Bruce Peninsula, Ontario) is also a great place for kayaking. Went there a few years ago for a multi-day kayaking trip. You will find awesome camp sites along the coast
