Demetrius's "30 foot" fall

I just wanted to let everyone know that I’m ok.

I heard about the fall. Dimi told me that she and Megan ran away as soon as they saw the funny-looking wrist :-) Kudos to Tom for reacting so fast (i was told)

And oh, good to hear you are OK too Robert.

So any idea how Demetrius is doing? And does anybody have an email address for him?

Hopefully, he’ll be fine. The x-rays were negative for any breaks or fractures but they gave him a temporary cast and sling anyway. They called it a dislocated elbow that was fixed by “The Instructor” using a technique commonly known as the “Alaskan Pipeline” (doctor’s words, could be a good nickname for Tom). The doctor said she didn’t see a reason for an MRI, and that he’s probably just sore and will continue to be that way for a little while. He’s going to have to follow up with an orthopedic today or this week.

He did manage to freak a lot of people out there with his wailing/laughing and telling them he fell from 30’ up. I’m not sure if he was trying to impress the ladies in admin, get ahead of the 30 or so people in the waiting room or what. I think he was just out of it. It did work, though. He looked better later on, I think the 6 shots of Dilaudid and the Narco pill had a lot to do with that.

3 side notes:

We shot past a lady with some pretty wicked head trauma.

I saw a lady carrying a sample of her own stool.

When looking up how to spell Dilaudid, I found that you can be prescribed Dolomite. I thought you had to be born with that stuff, sucka.

Thanks for the update… I was just telling Gerry that a clean dislocation was probably the best case scenario and that seems to be what happened. Thanks “Alaskan Pipeline” for the quick action and Robert for playing ambulance.

Hopefully we’ll see D back on the wall soon.

I talked to D. this morning: He was a lot happier at this point than he was the last time I saw him. He said “thanks to everyone there” for their help (he may still have been a tad out of it).

Damn, skip a Tuesday miss something serious. Demetrius was in the gym last night to pick up stuff he left after the incident, apparently he was in kind of rush to leave the day before. Except for the partial cast I guess he’s fine.

There was once an old farmer who had worked his few poor acres year after year to scrape together a meager, quiet existence.

One autumn day his only horse, an old but reliable one, wandered away.

His kind neighbor heard the news and came by with a horse offering to plow his field, and the neighbor commented on the old farmer’s bad luck.

“Maybe,” the farmer replied.

The next morning the old farmer’s horse returned bringing with it two strong, young wild horses!

“Such good luck!” the neighbor exclaimed.

“Maybe,” replied the old farmer.

The following day his son tried to ride one of the horses, and it threw him, and he broke his leg.

The good neighbor heard of this and returned to offer his sympathy. “What bad luck!” he said.

“Maybe,” answered the old farmer.

Very soon after several armed military officers appeared to conscript all available young men into service, for there was a terrible war and the king’s soldiers were dying. Seeing that the farmer’s son was in no condition to fight the officers passed him by.

“Such good luck!” declared the neighbor.

“Maybe,” said the farmer. “You never know.”

For anyone interested in this story, Demetrius is back to climbing. His elbow is perfectly healed. He’s lost a little grip strength from inactivity, but he was back on V3s on his first day back into it.
