It’s supposed to be View From Everest. Still a bitchin photo. How cold was it and what time of year?

We went in May 1999. From where the picture was taken, it wasn’t that cold at all. We were still in the lowland areas, and you can still see a lot of vegetation, etc. I’d say we were standing at about 10,000 ft, and it was probably in the 40’s that morning. It was about 5:30am when our Sherpa woke us up to this view :-)

Everest is that peak way in the back, and appears to be much lower than the ones in the foreground

Nice description of the day. Really jealous. Smart Sherpa to wake you up. Above the clouds A. What an experience. It’s really cool to see that image and then get your own feeling and then have the person actually there tell you what the hell was going on. Not that it was anything crazy, but any small detail changes my own perception. It looks like such a cool silvered light, like you could jump right in to those clouds.
