Very interesting article! The idea that humans should mimic the pack animal behavior to train dogs always seemed to make sense, but, as this article points out, it is clearly flawed by not taking into account the fact that domestication has made dogs significantly more juvenile than adult wolves and that humans are just not able to adequately mimic subtle canine communications.
The idea that a human is responsible for establishing himself in the role of trusted leader to his dog in order to reduce stress in the dog’s life is also a novel idea and puts a different spin on the concept of training. This is a very informative & very well-written article – should be required reading for any dog-owner!
