Sporting climbing at Red Rocks, NV?

where should I go sport climbing in Red Rock Canyon? I know that there are tons of classic trad climbs, but only know of a couple of hard to get to places for sport climbing. I have 2 days, and climb in the 10s and low-11s range. any ideas? good guide books? Thanks!!!

Highly recommend Black Corridor. There’s a ridiculous concentration of moderate routes with lots of gorgeous features and the approach isn’t too bad (kind of “fun” if you know what I mean). Don’t miss Vega Bonds (5.10a), it’s got everything you could possibly want in a sport route, layback, delicate slab, overhanging crimpy, etc.

thanks for the recommendation pete. we went to the Black Corridor the other day. man, it was definitely worth the 20 min of hiking (and scrambling). the concentration of climb there is amazing. We climbed Bon-ez and Vega Bonds, both very sweet climbs.

It was pretty crowded though. Some jackass starting to smoke and drink right next to us, so we decided to move on before I got a chance to check out a few more 9’s and 10’s. I did get a chance to get behind the big boulder. the climbs up there look really good. I would DEF come back to this wall next time I am in town

Note: this corridor is literally a narrow tiny “canyon,” and you climb on the two walls on both sides. I can imagine how it’s awesome in the summer, since it doesn’t get much sun at all; but in the winter, it gets pretty cold and breezy…so bring that new wind-breaker you just bought!

Awesome… glad you got to check it out. I would definitely go back there too if… when :)... I make it back to Red Rocks. Even on Labor Day, when it was 105 elsewhere it was really comfortable in Black Corridor (except when you got to the anchors and they were baking in the sun).

Did you hit any other good sport areas? Any bouldering in Calico Basin?
