between this new DVD and the Rock and Ice article from last year, I guess Yang Shuo will become the next exotic climbing IT spot after all. I hope that climbers will respect the local environment/culture – i.e. don’t do the following:
Yeah, when I was there for twos weeks last year you could see that it was on the verge of blowing up…so I guess the new dosage will make it official. Too bad, they were tearing down a lot of old, unique buildings to start building resorts and hotels. Hopefully it does not go the way of Tonsai, which has had a lot of problems with backlash from locals with the expanding hotels and resorts going up. I could see a bit of it while I was there for a month. Recently, I have heard that many local establishments have packed up and left, not to mention the problems with waste and pollution of ground water wells. A bit of a mess…I guess all good thing must come to an end…hopefully Yangshuo doesn’t end up this way.
