My cats have been tracking inside with them a lot of little clumps of cat litter. I am using Fresh Step Scoopable I get from Costco in a super sized container. I’ve tried the crystals as well…but the urine did not clump at all!! I tried contacting Fresh Step but did not get a response. Any good suggestions on a good litter? Thanks.

Yeah I use a litter mat…but the cats are still tracking the litter everywhere so I have to vacuum after them each time they’re back from the doing their business. |

We have a mechanical litter box (LitterMaid), so we have to use a hard clumping litter. So, we’ve been using ScoopAway, but it definitely tracks even though we have a mat. You might want to check out Yesterday’s News – it’s a litter made from recycled newspaper. We’ve never tried it because it wouldn’t work with our box, but it makes sense that it would be less track-prone than clay litters. And, it’s better for the environment… Check out their website for more information and to get a $1.50 coupon. |

Went to the Pet Expo yesterday and came across this new litter, Close to Nature Litter. It’s biodegradable, flushable, clumps and supposed to track less. The rep said it’ll be out in the stores(currently not available in the Midwest) in the next few weeks. Looking forward to trying it! |

With the crystals, they are supposed to absorb the urine without clumping. I don’t really understand why that would be a good thing, but apparently that’s how they work! I’ve used several types of litters but I haven’t really found one that doesn’t track. I mostly use Feline Pine Scoop litter because I’ve found it is good for odor control but I still do get some tracking. Do you use a litter mat? They make a number of different types of mats that you put around or in front of the litterbox that help to collect the litter off the cat’s paws.
